The Beauty of Dance, Part Nine: Emma Hawes, English National Ballet, London, England, UK

Emma Hawes is a principal dancer with the English National Ballet who comes from merrie olde English hamlet of . . . Delaware, Ohio!

This proud all-American girl started her training at the BalletMet Dance Academy in Columbus, Ohio, before going north of the border to continue her dance education at the National Ballet School of Canada.  Having crossed Lake Erie, Ms. Hawes made her way across the really big pond and joined the English National Ballet in 2018.

Her roles in the company  have included Manon and Lescaut’s Mistress in Manon, the title role in Christopher Wheeldon’s Cinderella, and Gulnare in Le Corsaire, among others.  Her favorite role to play his  Odette/Odile in Swan Lake.

Fun fact: Ms. Hawes was a competitive swimmer in her pre-teen years, and she's also a certified lifeguard.
