If you've never heard of Jane Oineza, that's likely because you've never seen any Philippine movies.
Ms. Oineza gained international attention at the age of seventeen in 2013, when she was recognized with a Finalist Certificate for Best Performance by an Actress at the New York Festivals, nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Single Drama at the Golden Screen Awards, and was part of a Best Drama nomination at the International Emmy Awards - all for an episode in the drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya." In that episode, "Manika," Ms. Oineza starred as Nene, a girl who is raped by her stepfather and witnesses her mother give in to drug addiction. At nineteen, in 2015, she got first lead role in the afternoon serial "Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita," playing the role of Corrine a daughter who sets out to fix her dysfunctional family. She was also in several Philippine movies, such as romantic comedies as Always Be My Maybe and horror movies such as Haunted Forest.
Ms. Oineza was just hitting her stride as an actress at the age of 23 when COVID hit. The pandemic has slowed down her career, built I'm sure it will pick up again soon.
