Model/actress Kathy Speirs

Kathy Speirs is a model and actress from the late sixties and the seventies.

Originally from Colorado and the daughter of a real estate developer, she was discovered by a modeling scout in Denver.  Born Kathy Hansen, she married Denver doctor Fred Speirs.  Just a couple of days after arriving in New York, she got a plum assignment - TV commercial with football legend Joe Namath.

Her acting work was mostly on television, having appeared on the old comedy-sketch series "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" and also in an episode of the detective series "Colombo."  The picture above is from "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In," and the one below is from "Colombo."

Working with the Wilhelmina agency, Ms. Speirs saw her greatest success as a model.  She appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan five times, and she was a regular presence in print and TV commercials.

While not as well remembered as her peers, Kathy Speirs still complied an impressive modeling portfolio in her day.
