From Russia with love.
Tatiana Sorokko is a model who was born in Russia when it was still a constituent republic of the Soviet Union. About a year before the U.S.S.R. fell, she was discovered by a French modeling agency and moved to Paris in 1990, when she was on the edge of nineteen. Within two weeks in Paris, she was already walking the runways for Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Soon she would model for, you name it, Givenchy, Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Gianfranco Ferré, Claude Montana, Oscar de la Renta, Giorgio Armani, and too many others to list here. Her fashion magazine editorials and cover credits include work for Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Elle, and Glamour, and many more.
At the age of thirty, Ms. Sorokko - now living in California an married to an American art dealer - became the foreign correspondent and contributing editor for the Russian edition of Vogue, a gig that last four years. Her column,, "Telegram from Tatiana Sorokko," commented on fashion and style and featured stories about the designers and photographers she worked with as a model. Ms. Sorokko has also written for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, producing and styling photography sessions for celebrated people such as author Isabel Allende and actor Peter Coyote, among others.
Having studied at the The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Tatiana Sorokko is a widely respected art and antiques expert and has given speeches on the topics. In 2014, she made a modeling comeback with a six-page fashion editorial in Harper's Bazaar, the U.S. edition of which she began writing for in January 2005, Ms. Sorokko began work as a contributing editor for the U.S. edition of Harper's Bazaar.
Tatiana Sorokko, who turns fifty this year (2021) on the day after Christmas, shows no sign of slowing down.
Fun fact: In her capacity as a Harper's Bazaar contributing editor, Tatiana Sorokko interviewed U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the magazine's August 2008 issue.
