Amara Walker is a news reporter and anchorwoman who joined CNN in November 2014 and has been a ubiquitous presence on the cable news channel since then.
Born Amara Sohn in Los Angeles, Ms. Walker started out in broadcast news at KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, California, before going east in 2005 to work as a news anchor and a general assignment reporter at NBC affiliate WTVJ-TV in Miami. In 2012, Ms. Walker - now with that name after having been married that year - took up the same duties at Fox affiliate WFLD-TV in Chicago, for, ultimately, two years.
At CNN, she co-anchors "CNN Today" with Michael Holmes in addition to doing general assignment reporting.
Fun fact: Ms Walker's husband Thomas is a plastic surgeon.
