Katherine Barkman has been with the Washington Ballet since 2018.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Ms. Barkman went to the Philippines in 2015, at the age of 18, to join the company of Ballet Manila. At this writing, at a mere 23 years of age, Ms. Barkman has already accumulated numerous credits to her dance CV. Her roles have included Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, the title role in Giselle, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and, of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen in The Nutcracker. And many more roles too numerous to list here.
Ms. Barkman, like most dancers, doesn't exactly have a long career ahead of her, but at her age, she's bound to last longer than many of her peers.
