Gina Torres is a reliable presence in American film and television.
She is best known for her role as Cas in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Resolutions, films from 2003 in an ongoing series of films about a dystopian future in which everyone lives in virtual reality. But she's also done lighter films more grounded in reality, such as the Chris Rock movie I Think I Love My Wife, a 2007 remake of Eric Rohmer's Chloe In the Afternoon, about a man (Rock) whose relationship with his wife (Ms. Torres) has gone stale.
On television, she's played a lot of roles in sci-fi/fantasy series, including "Cleopatra 2525," about women who fight flying robots controlling Earth in the year . . . no, I'm not going to say it. :-D

Fans fondly remember her as the gun slinging 'Zoe Washburne' from the Serenity movie and firefly TV series.
