Caroline Chen is a reporter who is just what the doctor ordered.
She's not a doctor herself, like CNN's Sanjay Gupta, but she is a heath-care reporter, working for the alternative investigative-journalism outlet ProPublica.
She previously worked at Bloomberg News, where she first reported on health stories such as the Ebola virus outbreak. Her work at ProPublica includes coverage of COVID-19.
Before the pandemic, Ms. Chen uncovered a 2019 heart transplant program in New Jersey that put statistics over patient care, wining her the Livingston Award for local reporting. A year earlier, she won the June L. Biedler Cancer Prize for Cancer Journalism for coolartiin on a story about on racial disparities in cancer trials with Riley Wong in 2018 won the June L. Biedler Cancer Prize for Cancer Journalism in online/multimedia reporting.
