Actress Caroline Dhavernas

Another Caroline! 😃

Caroline Dhavernas is a Canadian actress who has made an impression in artistically important productions that have been underappreciated by the mainstream.

She played Jane Tyler in the short-lived Fox TV series "Wonderfalls," her character being an underachieving young woman who works in a gift shop and receives advice from inanimate objects. Though the series, which ran in 2004, was widely praised, it was canceled quickly.

Less widely praised was Passchendaele, a movie about the World War I battle of that name in which the Canadian Expeditionary Force in the ultimately successful effort to liberate Belgium form Germany and break the Kaiser's war machine.  Ms. Dhavernas, who played the older sister of a Canadian solider, was proud of her role in it - "It's a beautiful film and I'm really, really happy to be part of it. It's about battle of Passchendaele, which was a very important battle for Canadians and it's a big part of our history.  It was just so amazing to be privileged to live a little part of that history. A piece of our history," she said - but the film was not a big success.  A French-Canadian, she also stared in the Francophone Canadian film Surviving My Mother, about the relationship between a Quebecoise mother (played by Ms. Dhavernas) and daughter.

She also starred in the Canadian TV series "Mary Kills People," as a doctor who specializes in physician-assisted suicide, and she's had guest roles in American TV shows.
