Journalist Rana Foroohar

Rana Foroohar is a star reporter and commentator on world affairs and economics.

The daughter of a Turkish immigrant and a first-generation American, Ms. Foroohar (her surname is not Turkish but Iranian, the name of her first husband, a British journalist of Iranian descent) is one of the top journalistic experts in both fields, having spent thirteen years at Newsweek covering them and also having been a correspondent based in London covering Europe.  She then spent six years Newsweek's traditional rival, Time magazine, writing a column about economics and serving as an assistant editor and economic columnist.  She became a columnist and associate editor for the Financial Times as a columnist and associate editor in March 2017.

Ms. Foroohar is the author of two books, "Makers and Takers: The Rise of Finance and the Fall of American Business" and "Don't Be Evil: How Big Tech Betrayed Its Founding Principles – and All of Us."  Both books offer sobering accounts of American capitalism.

A life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Ms. Foroohar has appeared on several television news programs and radio broadcasts.

Fun fact: Her 2013 story "The Myth of Financial Reform" was so controversial, the U.S. Treasury Department criticized it.
