The Beauty of Song, Part Seven: Ash Koley

Ash Koley is the name of a group as well as a person, not unlike Manfred Mann or Brinsley Schwarz.

Ash Koley, the person, is the lead singer.  She was born in the Canadian province of  Manitoba and formed her band with fellow Manitoban Phil Deschambault in 2004.  It took over half a decade to get a record contract, but Ash Koley succeeded and got signed to Nettwerk Records.

Never heard of Nettwerk?  It's an indie label in Canada, which is why you may never have heard of Ash Koley.   They're simply better known in Canada, but they're not superstars either; the band has only issued two albums in the past decade, 2010's Inventions and 2016's Elements, though they've been more prolific in releasing extended players.

Ash Koley's best-known song is "Don't Let Your Feet Touch Ground," their debut single, which reached number four on the Canadian Adult Contemporary chart.
