The Beauty of Retrospect: Kathy Davis

I always love to revisit the all-American model Kathy Davis, whose sunny looks have graced some of the most memorable editorial features and ad campaigns.

Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Kathy Davis started modeling as a teenager and frequently appeared on the cover of Teen magazine.  A contemporary of Cheryl Tiegs, she worked in Paris early in her career. By 1974, when the above issue of New York magazine came out, Ms. Davis was a star in the modeling trade.

It's ironic that a southern California girl like Kathy Davis would appear on a magazine for a city in which looking down on SoCal is a time-honored pastime, but there you go. :-D

As the photo above from a Black Velvet liquor ad shows, Kathy Davis could project the same innocence as an adult that she did as a teenager.  But she could also project a strong sex appeal, as the black-and-white photo below shows. :-)

And, of course . . .

. . . what would a California model's portfolio be without at least one swimsuit pose, like the one above? :-)
