Rachel Griffiths is probably best known to Americans as Nate Fisher's girlfriend in the HBO mortuary drama "Six Feet Under." But the Australian actress has also distinguished herself in several movies.
She first came to people's attention as the carefree Rhonda Epinstall in Muriel's Wedding, a 1994 movie from Down Under about a daydreaming woman looking for a better life (Muriel, played by Toni Collette; Rhonda is Muriel's friend), and she later played flautist Hilary du Pré in the 1998 biopic Hilary and Jackie, about the British classical musicians the du Pré sisters (Emily Watson played Hilary's cellist sister Jacqueline).
More recently, Rachel Griffiths played Sarah Walker in the ABC-TV series "Brothers & Sisters," about an extended family and its many problems.
