Katie Phang is a lawyer who specializes in legal services covering business litigation, family Law, criminal defense and media and advertising.
She's best known, however, as a top-notch political and legal commentator on MSNBC, hosting a Saturday afternoon program that began in 2022 and also working for NBC News as a legal correspondent. She became quickly known for her pointed commentary exposing the idiocies and inconsistencies of the far right and her passionate advocacy for her fellow Americans of Asian and Pacific Islander origin.
Alas, MSNBC canceled her program in February 2025, though her program would remain on the air for a few weeks after and she would continue at NBC News as a correspondent.
Ms. Phang's dismissal was one of the most appalling decisions MSNBC ever made with regards to on-air staff, as it was clearly an effort by he cable news channel caving to Trump.
(I said I would include TV news personalities on occasion at the start of the year, and as you may have gathered, I'm focusing on women in the TV news profession who are standing up against the fascist regime in the White House. If you have a problem with that, too bad. You don't have to stay here. Anyway, this blog is coming to an end soon, so what do I have to lose?)
