Louise Despointes was considered part of the "French Mafia" of models and photographers from France who came to New York City in the late 1960s.
She began working with photographer Guy Bourdin and soon started doing numerous fashion editorials for the many international editions of Vogue in the late sixties and early seventies.
In 1978, Louise Despointes founded her own modeling agency - City Models, in Paris.
