Kylie Atwood is one of the newest faces on CNN, serving as the channel's national security correspondent since 2019. But she's no newcomer.
Se first came to national attention as the State Department reporter for CBS News, having worked for the Big Eye network for over six years. Ms. Atwood started out as an assistant for legendary CBS newsman Bob Schieffer, helping him with researching stories, and she also worked on the CBS newsmagazine "60 Minutes" before she got her State Department gig. As a reporter, she covered the Ukraine scandal that led to Donald Trump's first impeachment and reported from several countries all over the world, including Afghanistan, Russia, Mexico and China.
Fun fact: Kylie Atwood was the only pool reporter who covered then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on one of his diplomatic trips to North Korea, which allowed her to cover direct conversations with members of the North Korean government.
