Maia Makhateli is a dancer from Georgia's capital city. Not Atlanta. Tbilisi.
Ms Makhateli grew up in a family of dancers in the Transcaucasian nation of Georgia and trained there before she and her family moved to the United States. No, they didn't move to the American Georgia - they settled in Idaho, Although Ms. Makhateli now dances in the Netherlands, her father still runs a ballet school in the U.S.
Starting her career with the Colorado Ballet. In 2006, she moved on to the Birmingham Royal Ballet in England before making her way to Amsterdam, joining the Dutch National Ballet in 2007, being promoted to soloist in 2009 and to principal a year after that.
Among her roles include the role of Marguerite in La Dame aux Camélias.
