The Beauty of Sport, Part Five: Blair Evans

She's a distance swimmer who specializes in the freestyle stroke, she's competed in the 400-meter and 800-meter events, and her last name is Evans - but it's not the Ms. Evans you're thinking about.  ;-)  This is Blair Evans, who is not related to my Olympic heartthrob Janet Evans, and who is not even American - she's from Perth, Australia.

Blair Evans debuted at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships where she competed in the 800-meter freestyle, and then went on to cause a sensation Down Under with medal-winning performances at the 2010 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, where she won the bronze medals in the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle events and earned a silver medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay.  She earned her first gold medal in international competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, winning a gold medal in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay.

Ms. Evans has competed in the Olympics, both in 2012 and 2016 Olympics , in the 400-meter individual medley.  Even though she did not medal in either Olympiad, she still earned respect from her fellow Australians for her fortitude. :-)
