She started out as a child model an began working as an actress at the age of seventeen. She had her first big break in 2007, playing Laura for six episodes in the ABC comedy-drama "What About Brian." Laura was a neighbor to the title character.
The role that made her star, though, was as Vanessa Abrams, a no-nonsense upper class teenager who wants to be a documentary filmmaker - and doesn't care what people think of her for speaking her mind - in "Gossip Girl." She left the show in 2011 but returned for the series finale a year later.
Ms. Szohr has since appeared in various films such as 2014's Brightest Star, as a singer whom a jilted lover find himself attracted to after being dumped by his girlfriend, and she also starred in a romantic comedy from the same year, Two Night Stand. More recently, she has been starring in "The Orville," a science-fiction centered around space exploration, as a security officer on the spaceship the series is named for. "The Orville" has been in production since 2017.
