Bojana Novakovic has had some small successes in America as an actress from Australia, but recently she starred in a series that, while it has been cancelled, may have given her more exposure in the U.S. than any previous role she'd had before.
Ms. Novakovic played New York police detective Lizzie Needham in "Instinct," a CBS summer-season police drama, who pursued cases with a retired psychology professor and CIA paramilitary officer played by the always enigmatic Alan Cumming. After two seasons, however, the series ran its course.
Ms. Novakovic, who emigrated to Australia from her native Serbia when she was seven years old, has a long record of accomplishments in Australian movie and in Sydney theater. And "Instinct" isn't her first foray in American television; she had a recurring role in the Showtime series "Shameless," a comedy about a dysfunctional family.
She may not be the star of an American TV show anymore, but hopefully "Instinct" is a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
