Amanda Seyfried is an actress who made a successful transition from television to the movies.
Although she had a notable part in Tina Fey's movie Mean Girls as a not-so-bright teenager., it was TV that raised her profile, as she starred in the teen detective series "Veronica Mars" as Lily Kane, the best friend of the show's character, and she also appeared in "Big Love," as a daughter in a polygamous fundamentalist Mormon household.
Two movie roles propelled Ms. Seyfried to the toppermost of the poppermost - the aspiring bride Sophie in the 2008 movie version of the Abba musical Mamma Mia!, and Anita, a young girl trying to stop her best friend from going on a killing spree in 2009's Jennifer's Body. By the time she followed that up playing another character named Sophie, an American magazine editor in Italy, in the 2010 romantic drama Letters To Juliet, she was a bona fide star.
Since then, she's had several roles in movies, including the romantic horror film Red Riding Hood (from 2012) and the romantic comedy The Big Wedding (from 2013). Spins on romance are obviously her forte, but she's also proven to be a solid musical actress, having played Cosette in the 2012 movie version of the musical redo of Les Misérables.
And yes, she reprised her role as Sophie in the 2018 Abba musical sequel Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again.
Amanada Seyfried is only 33 years old as of this writing, so expect another post from me in the future to update her career. :-)
