Alexandra Essoe had only two movies to her credit in her short career when, in 2014, her third film caused a big sensation.
In the horror film Starry Eyes, she plays Sarah, an aspiring Hollywood starlet with a hair-pulling disorder who will do anything to make it. Her pursuit leads to some ominous and deadly turns and twists of fate.
Ms. Essoe, who was born and raised in Saudi Arabia before emigrating to Canada, received good notices from critics specializing in the horror-movie genre for her work in this film, which was partially funded through Kickstarter.
Having established herself in horror indies, she seems poised to make it big in mainstream cinema.
