When Katy Tur was assigned by MSNBC to cover the nascent presidential campaign of Donald Trump in June 2015, she shrugged and accepted it, probably thinking she'd be covering Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio by the end of the year or early in 2016 as soon as Trump dropped out.
As of this writing, Trump is President, and Katy Tur - one of several reporters on the receiving end of Trump's insults - has seen her career go into high gear. Not only is she one of MSNBC's most visible reporters, she got the gig to anchor MSNBC's 2 PM Eastern hour during his first one hundred days in office.
Fun fact: Both of her parents are reporters.
