The Beauty of Retrospect, Olympics Edition: Amanda Beard

Has it really been twenty years as of this posting since Amanda Beard, whom I last featured here in March 2007, made her Olympic swimming debut in Atlanta, winning a gold medal in the 4×100 m medley relay and silver in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke races?

Well, of course, she went on to more victories in subsequent Olympiads after 1996.

Among her accomplishments in the Olympics are a bronze medal in the 200-meter breaststroke in Sydney, and silver medals in both the 200-meter individual medley and the 4×100-meter medley relay in Athens in 2004.

In addition to being a model, Ms. Beard, who turns 35 in October 2016, has also been a TV personality.  She joined Fox's sports-talk show "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" as a correspondent.

In 2012, she released her memoir, in which she admitted to her struggles with depression and drug use, and she credited her husband, photographer Sacha Brown, in helping her overcome her demons.
