Actress Stana Katic

Stana Katic has been a staple on American television since 2009.

The Canadian-born actress, whose Serbian ethnic parents emigrated to Ontario from Croatia, plays New York police detective Kate Beckett in the ABC-TV series "Castle," whose title character is a frustrated mystery writer who helps the police with murder cases.  Richard Castle and Kate Beckett eventually fall in love and marry, after Kate has quit the force.  She was inspired to become a detective, sadly, by her mother's unsolved murder, and she has a penchant for investigating unusual cases.

In addition to her work on "Castle," Stana Katic has appeared in movies such as Feast of Love and Quantum of Solace, and she also played Hana Gitelman, a two-shot character on the TV series "Heroes."  She holds dual Canadian and American citizenship.

Note: Today, April 27, 2015, it was reported that Stana Katic married her longtime boyfriend Kris Brkljac in Croatia over the past weekend. I had no idea when she was going to get married when I drafted this post several weeks before I actually posted it - it was pure coincidence that I published it at the time of her wedding.
