U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)

Behold, one of the Senate's new rising stars! :-)

Elizabeth Warren was elected to U.S. Senate in 2012 from her adopted home state of Massachusetts, where she was a Harvard law professor.  She defeated Senator Scott Brown, the incumbent Republican candidate. In doing so, she became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from the Bay State.

An expert on bankruptcy law, Mrs. Warren chaired the congressional panel overseeing the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) meant to bail out banks, and in the process she became the foremost voice for justice and fairness in the banking industry. She helped President Obama set up the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, designed to help the little guy against the big bad banks. And she did all this in the four years leading up to her Senate win.

As a U.S. Senator, she's committed to continue the fight for the common people, making her a banker's worst nightmare.  :-)

Fun fact: The Oklahoma-born Mrs. Warren has New Jersey roots.  She got her law degree at Rutgers University's campus in Newark.
