Here's another picture of the great Catherine Deneuve, as promised. I am threatening to add more. :-D
Catherine Deneuve has made at least a hundred films since her international debut in 1964, though quantity doesn't mean quality. But I've been lucky; I've liked or loved most of the Deneuve films I've seen.
Deneuvians will note that her first Hollywood film as The April Fools, a 1969 romantic comedy that paired her with Jack Lemmon. (It was his first film following The Odd Couple.) The April Fools was directed by Stuart Rosenberg, the fellow who gave us Cool Hand Luke with Paul Newman two years earlier. Okay, a solid leading man, a substantial director, a decent movie. So far, so good. But while the movie was a success at the box office, it failed to establish our heroine in Hollywood. What the heck happened?
