Allison Guinn is one of the emerging "funny ladies" of the latest generation of Broadway performers.
She got rave notices for her work in the role of the hapless Lucy Schmeeler in the 2014-15 Broadway revival of On the Town, and she's also performed in several productions of the 1960s counterculture musical Hair.
Born and raised in eastern Tennessee, Ms. Guinn has created a show based on the Appalachian folk music of her upbringing as a tribute to her grandmother, titled The Legacy of Daisy Dean. It's been described as "an Appalachian Cinderella story, minus the shoes."
