Model Tara Shannon

With her auburn hair and her light complexion, Tara Shannon brought a cool Irish-American look to modeling in the 1980s. No doubt that she was the dream girl of a lot of Irish Catholic schoolboys back in the day.

Besides modeling for designers like Valentino (as in the photo from 1983 above) and Calvin Klein, she also appeared on covers of Vogue and Elle, among others.  But she's  probably best known as an MTV goddess.  She appeared in the promotional videos for the Cars' single "Tonight She Comes" and Huey Lewis and the News' "Doing It All For My Baby."  Yes, she was the "bride of Frankenstein" scared out of her wits by Frankenstein's monster after he turned into . . . Huey Lewis. :-D

Tara Shannon overcame a tough childhood to make it in the modeling world, and she made a name for herself portraying different types of women in the many assignments she did.  Called the "woman of a thousand faces," her own face was indeed one of numerous expressions.  But she was still that same Irish rose that got several of us guys back in the 1980s - especially those of us who watched a lot of MTV - to fall in love with her in the first place.

And we did our best to give her love that lasts forever. ;-)
