NewYork newswoman Shiba Russell

Shiba Russell is one of the many young personalities in local broadcast journalism in New York.

The Boston-born Ms. Russell worked on the local News 12 cable news channel in the Bronx as an evening anchor and reporter, where she covered the explosive Amadou Diallo shooting and the 2001 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in Manhattan.

After then working as a weekend evening anchor and general assignment reporter at WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh and as a weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter for WCVB-TV in her native Boston, Ms. Russell returned to New York in February 2011 to become a weekend evening anchor at WNBC-TV; she was promoted to an anchor position on the 5:00 PM report six months later in August 2011. She has co-anchored the 11:00 PM report with New York local news legend Chuck Scarborough since June 2012, and she continues as a 5:00 report anchor as well.
