Atia Abawi is a TV reporter based in Afghanistan who herself is of Afghan descent.
She wanted to a be a television journalist at an early age, influenced by her family watching TV news regularly.
She joined CNN in January 2009 and switched to freelancing for NBC News less than two years later.
