Reports of the death of model and television journalist Gail O'Neill, generally regarded as one of the sweetest souls in the modeling profession - and one of my own favorites in the business began swirling through social media early yesterday. I did not believe the rumors; there was no mention of her passing in the news media. But late today, her death was confirmed by Women's Wear Daily and Vogue on their respective Web sites.
Gail O'Neill was one of those models I never met, and her untimely passing - cause still unreported - makes me as upset as I was to learn about the passing of Tatjana Patitz earlier this year. Ms. O'Neill was known to be a caring, sweet person who loved modeling and loved working in broadcast journalism, the profession she took up after her full-time modeling career was over. She left a bright mark on the world, and the planet is much dimmer without her.
I hadn't posted many pictures of her on this blog (to my great regret), so that is why I posted one here now. Every picture of Ms. O'Neill on this blog, including this one, will remain here, but I will not post any more pictures of her going forward. RIP.
