Actress Uzo Aduba

Uzo Aduba is part of a new generation of actresses who owe their success to streaming.

Ms. Aduba, the daughter of Nigerian immigrants, played Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren, an intelligent but overemotional convict, in the Netflix comedy-drama series "Orange is the New Black," set in a women's prison.  Wikipedia describes Crazy Eyes as "pone to spiral into emotional outbursts when agitated, as well as hallucinations and delusions, due to mental illness.  Ms. Aduba played her from the show's beginning to its end, 2013 to 2019.

Ms. Aduba also appeared in another Netflix production, a movie named Tallulah, about a homeless woman who kidnaps a baby from an irresponsible mother, and in the theatrically released 2016 film adaptation of Philip Roth's novel American Pastoral, directed by and starring Ewan McGregor.   She also played Shirley Chisholm, Americans' first black female member of the U.S .House of Representatives, in the Hulu miniseries "Mrs. America," about the influence of the revered and reviled conservative anti-Equal Rights Amendment activist Phyllis Schafly.
