TV newswoman Karla Murthy

Karla Murthy is one of the hardest-working women in the TV news business.

She's best known as a correspondent and producer for PBS News' weekend report, but she has also worked on various documentaries, having directed and produced films such as The Place That Makes Us.  At this writing, she's currently working about her father's childhood in India, The Gas Station Attendant.  The Columbia Journalism Review once descried her work as "compelling, informative and compassionate."

Fun fact 1: Ms. Murthy got her start working for Bill Moyers.

Fun fact 2:  She studied classical piano as a girl.
