The Beauty of Retrospect, December Model Edition: Louise Vyent

I last featured Dutch model Louise Vyent in May 2015, so I've waited too long to feature her again.  And I'm happy to revisit her on this New Year's Eve.

The sepia photo above is from the start of her career in the Netherlands in 1984, showing brimming cockiness and confidence in her natural beauty.  The color photo below is from much later in Ms. Vyent's career, as she returned to modeling after earning a master's degree in communications at Montclair State University in New Jersey.  Thanks to aging Boomers and Gernation Xers, there's a greater demand for models fifty and older (both sexes).

Here's an update on what's going on with Louise Vyent, and I'm sorry it's not better news.   She found out she had breast cancer in early 2020, just before COVID hit, and, after living in Montclair, New Jersey for many years, she decided to return to the Netherlands, where she still has family, for her treatment before the borders closed.  None of this is private information; Ms. Vyent has been very open about her health problems on social media.

She's on the mend, but the pandemic continues, and so she's not returning to America any time soon.  Hopefully, she'll return when things settle down and the pandemic ends, which may very well be some time in the New Year.  As someone who is involved in the goings-on in Montclair - I work as a reporter there, and I spend a lot of my free time there, or at least I did before COVID - I hope to see her again in person one day.  (I met her once.)

And, after seeing her photos of the beaches of the Netherlands,  I want to go to that country as well. 😊

This is my last post of 2021.  With a whole lot of things going wrong - not just for Louise Vyent, but for everyone - I can only hope that 2022 will be much better.

That's it for my retrospectives for now.  I'll be back in the New Year with new subjects.
