Sophie Auster is a singer-songwriter who has also dabbled in acting.
The daughter of authors Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt, Ms. Auster has released five albums that have gotten acclaim from the press but - because she's a singer-songwriter at at time when engaging in such a musical genre seems so 1971 - haven't sold. Her albums include her 2005 self-titled debut as well as 2012's Red Weather and 2019's History Happens at Night.
Ms. Auster has acted in movies since she was nine; at that age, she appeared in the romantic drama Washington Square. She had a minor role in 1998's Lulu On the Bridge, and as a young adult, played the orphaned niece of a professional plumber and aspiring writer in The Inner Life of Martin Frost. Both movies were written and directed by her father. She also had a minor role in the classical music comedy-drama series "Mozart In the Jungles" on Amazon.
