The Beauty of Retrospect: Another Catherine Roberts Week, Part Three

Catherine Roberts was a constant presence in Avon catalogs, much like many of the models I have featured on this blog.  And her Avon appearances are some the finest examples of the brand's campaigns.

The picture above, from 1979, emphasizes Avon's skin-care products, showing our heroine softly stroking her face to underscore how smooth her skin is.  The Avon photo below, from 1980, is almost ethereal . . . or even etheral (she's a knockout!), showing Catherine with a rose as delicate as her beauty seems to be.

But, of course, both Ms. Roberts and roses are actually quite strong (roses have thorns), and toughness is precisely what you need to survive the cutthroat world of modeling.  It's a quality that comes through even in Catherine's Avon work, as seen below in a picture in which she looks ready for a night on the town.

It makes sense that the above picture comes from  a French Avon catalog. Strong women are revered in France.
