Actress Belinda Owusu

Unless you watch British sop operas (yes, there are such things) on American television, you've likely never heard of Belinda Owusu.

Ms. Owusu, a British actress of Ghanaian and English origin, played Libby Fox, a young woman from a troubled family, on the serial drama "EastEnders," performing in that role from 2006 to 2010 and again on a recurring basis from 2014 to 2017.

More recently, she's played Nicky McKendrick in the BBC medical drama "Holby City."  Her character is a talented doctor who has come from the working class and constantly as to prove herself as a black woman with blue-collar roots at Holby City hospital.  She's played this role since late 2017.

She also played Desdemona in a 2011 production of Shakespeare's Othello, proving that she can do just about anything as an actress.
