Bonnie Somerville is a working actress who always finds a way to keep working despite having the misfortune of being in "one-season wonders" - TV shows that only last one season and get canceled for low ratings.
Two examples of one-season wonders starring Ms. Somerville were as a waitress in the Fox sitcom "Kitchen Confidential," which was based on book from the late Anthony Bourdain and ran in the 2005-06 season, and "Golden Boy," about a man who becomes the youngest New York City police commissioner of all time, which ran in the 2013-14 season. In the latter series, Ms. Somerville played a homicide detective.
Ms. Somerville is well-known for her TV drama roles. She played Detective Laura Murphy in the twelfth season of ABC's "NYPD Blue" and played Christa Lorenson, a first-year resident doctor, in the CBS medical drama "Code Black." Ironically, the latter role was for one season, and "Code Black" went on for two more.
Ms. Somerville is also a singer, and she performs in the group Band from TV, a cover band comprised oft television actors who donate their earnings to charity. She continues to act in television shows in guest roles as well as in movies.
Fun fact: Bonnie Somerville had a small role in the 2018 version of A Star Is Born, but her scenes were cut.
