Thandie Newton is a British actress known for her movies on both sides of the Atlantic.
The daughter of an English farther and Zimbabwean mother, she's perhaps best known for her role as Christine in the ensemble movie Crash, dealing with racism in Los Angeles. She also played former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice in W., a movie about the forty-third U.S. President, and she played slave Sally Hemmings in Jefferson in Paris.
Fun fact: Her full name is Melanie Thandiwe Newton. He middle name means "beloved" in various southern African languages.
