Kellie Pickler is another happy discovery from a TV talent show.
The North Carolina-born country singer was a contestant on the 2006 edition of "American Idol," but she only placed sixth. That, however, was enough to get the attention of a record label, which signed her later that year.
Her single "Red High Heels" was a breakthrough moment for Ms. Pickler, and it led to other country hits such as "Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind" and "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You." Her four albums to date - Small Town Girl,
Kellie Pickler, 100 Proof, and The Woman I Am - have all made the top five of the Billboard country album chart.
