Phylicia Rashad has played numerous roles on television, but she is best known for two roles, both opposite Bill Cosby.
She played Clair Huxtable, the wife of Cosby's character Cliff Huxtable, on NBC's "The Cosby Show" from 1984 to 1992, and Ruth Lucas, the wife of his character Hilton Lucas, on CBS's "Cosby" from 1996 to 2000.
But here are some things you probably didn't know about Phylicia Rashad:
Her sister is dancer/choreographer Debbie Allen, and her brother is jazz musician Tex Allen.
She was the first black actress to win the Best Actress Tony in a play, for her 2004 performance as Lena Younger in a revival of A Raisin In the Sun.
She was married to Village People frontman Victor Willis.
Her next husband, football player-turned-sportscaster Ahmad Rashad (whom she got divorced from in 2001), proposed to her on live television during the NBC pre-game show of the 1985 Thanksgiving football game. (What a doofus he is!)
