Maureen Kyle grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and left to pursue a broadcast journalism career. In true "Welcome Back, Kotter" fashion, her dreams led her back home, where Clevelanders obviously needed her.
Ms. Kyle actually began her career at New York public radio station WFUV-FM, generally regarded as one of New York City's best music stations. While a reporter in the station's news department, she helped cover the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
After working for a spell at WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky as a reporter, substitute anchor, and occasional weather forecaster, Ms. Kyle moved to WKYC-TV, NBC's Cleveland affiliate, in March 2007 and, as of this writing, has been there ever since, reporting news and anchoring the midday newscast. Before she even got there, the Society of Professional Journalists named her Best Feature Reporter (in 2004).
Fun fact: Remember CBS reporter Russ Mitchell? He's one of the chief anchors at WKYC-TV now, so he's one of Ms. Kyle's co-workers.
