Katharine McPhee is one of the few contestants from Fox's "American Idol" that amounted to something.
Although she was a runner-up on the talent show's 2006 season, she went on to a recording career, putting out two regular albums and a Christmas disc and having a hit single with "Over It."
As an actress, Ms. McPhee has had roles in movies such as You May Not Kiss the Bride and Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding, and she appeared in "Smash," an NBC-TV drama about staging a Broadway show. Alas, it was canceled after only one-and-a-half seasons.
