Fashion model Joan Smalls

One complaint about the modeling trade today is that there are very few models of color with a high profile.  Fortunately, there is still Joan Smalls.

The Puerto Rico-born Ms. Smalls has done numerous campaigns for various designers - Lacoste, Givenchy, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, and David Yurman - to name a few - and she's appeared in editorials for several international editions of fashion magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour, and W.

Joan Smalls is also ubiquitous on television, co-hosting MTV's fashion series "House of Style" with fellow model Karlie Kloss.

Fun fact: In 2011, she became the first Hispanic spokesmodel for the Estée Lauder company. :-)
