TV newswoman Alice Gainer

Alice Gainer has been a perennial presence in broadcast journalism in the greater New York area for quite some time.

She is currently an anchorwoman and reporter for New York's CBS station, WCBS-TV, and its sister station out on Long Island, WLNY-TV.  Before that, she worked for the local-news cable network News 12, at both its Westchester and New Jersey stations.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Ms. Gainer graduated from Fordham University in 2004 with a communications degree and had been a news anchor at the university's radio station, WFUV-FM.  She has won several awards for journalism, including a best-continuing-coverage award from the Associated Press and an award from Public Radio News Directors Incorporated.

Fun fact 1:  Alice Gainer has even acted as a reporter, playing an MSNBC anchor in The Bourne Legacy and also playing an anchorwoman in a lottery commercial.

Fun fact 2: Ms. Gainer competed several times in the Miss New Jersey USA pageant.
