Journalist Joy Reid

Joy Reid is the managing editor of, a news site devoted to stores affecting America's black population, and she's a regular commentator on the MSNBC cable news channel.

Ms. Reid was a prominent figure in the Miami area before she "went national."  She began working in Miami broadcast news in 1998, and her CV includes stints at NBC affiliate WTVJ-TV an Fox affiliate WSVN-TV.  She also co-hosted the morning radio show "Wake Up South Florida" on an Miami AM station that has since been put to sleep.  

In her spare time, she's written columns for the Miami Herald, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the South Florida Times, and  And if that weren't enough, she's co-producing a documentary, "The Fight Years" (about the great boxing matches that took place in Miami) with her husband for Miami's PBS station, WPBT-TV.
